The product

Malam Events is a two-sided photography and events marketplace for the Saudi market. I built the Flutter iOS app, the web operations dashboard and the Firebase backend.

Clients discover photographers by event type, request a booking and follow a clear lifecycle — request, approval, in progress, completed — with status updates and in-app chat. The private operations dashboard manages photographers, clients, services, contracts and payments.

The client experience is bilingual Arabic and English with RTL support, and the app is live on the App Store.

Key decisions

Problem, decision, trade-off, result.

  1. Problem

    Clients needed a simple way to discover and book photographers, while operations needed control over approvals, contracts and payments.

  2. Decision

    One explicit booking lifecycle — request, approval, in progress, completed — shared by the Flutter iOS app and the web operations dashboard.

  3. Trade-off

    Every state change has to read the same way to both sides, in Arabic and English and in notifications; a mismatch would show the client one status and operations another.

  4. Result

    The client app is live on the App Store; the operations dashboard is internal.
